Wrap-up, survey, evaluation
Nevada continues to experience challenges in its behavioral health system, particularly regarding access to mental health services, and a shortage of skilled professionals to meet the needs of the population. The Lincy Institute, along with several partners, has proposed a statewide mental health workforce development forum on 10/7/2016.
Planning partners for this statewide event include the UNLV Mental and Behavioral Health Coalition, institutions within the Nevada System of Higher Education, Nevada Division of Health and Human Services Department of Public Behavioral Health, and representatives from state government.
The target audience for the event includes local and state legislators, and other decision makers involved in the state mental health system. Stakeholders in the mental health workforce will be invited including representatives from private and nonprofit service provider agencies/employers, educational institutions, state licensing boards, professional associations, and public agencies.
The forum will take place in the Greenspun Auditorium at UNLV, spanning six hours (8:00 am – 2:00 pm) and will be linked to sites around the state , including Carson City, Reno, and Elko. The event will comprise morning keynote speakers, followed by a panel of various expert stakeholders, and a guided solution-based discussion on best practices, and strategies to develop a mental health workforce development plan for the state of Nevada.
