UNLV Head Coach Dave Rice speaks about the suspension of junior guard Daquan Cook. Cook was arrested in Las Vegas Sunday, charged with driving under the influence.
A statement from the UNLV Athletics department:
LAS VEGAS – UNLV men’s basketball junior Daquan Cook has been suspended for at least the non-conference portion of the 2015-16 season, which equates to the first 13 games.
Cook was arrested for driving under the influence on Sunday in Las Vegas. His status will be re-evaluated prior to the start of conference play.
“Daquan made a mistake and takes responsibility for it,” head coach Dave Rice said. “He understands at UNLV there are consequences. We are disappointed in his actions, but we are committed to giving him the support he needs to have the opportunity to move forward and learn from this.”
